The conventional Internet deploys routers as a key block. The research has indicated that the regulatory competition regime, by and large, has failed to address concerns of market dominance and market power in the telecommunications sector as is evidenced by a relatively lower price-performance ratio of broadband services in Australia. SUMMARY We propose a hardware-based packet forwarder for multi-gigabit IP backbone networks. BroadbandNow is a consumer resource that finds and compares local internet service providers based on the largest dataset of internet service plans, coverage and pricing. However, market forces only play their roles in improving broadband Internet access in the major cities and have little effect in regional and rural Australia. The government has been basing its actions on market forces as a principal driver for broadband Internet connectivity. The backbone is a collection of interconnected Wide Area Networks (WANs) with Border Routers that communicate with each other to forward packets. Here, the largest and fastest networks are linked together with fiber-optic. The same link can be used to access the internet and other public or private cloud based services, therefore creating a consolidated network while establishing a high quality SIP trunk service. This research has clearly indicated that the state of broadband Internet access is closely related to the government’s policy and regulatory framework. We report the first statistical analysis of Internet backbone traffic, based on traces with levels of aggregation 10 times larger and timestamp accuracy. The Internet backbone can be simply defined as the core of the Internet. The primary goal of this chapter is to develop a holistic understanding of Australia’s national approaches pertaining to broadband Internet access. This chapter provides an in-depth analysis of the impact of policy issues on broadband Internet access in Australia. Like many other governments in the world, the Australian government has taken a multi-faceted approach to promoting broadband Internet access. Internet backbone failures that previously only impacted a handful of academic researchers and computer scientists, may now as easily generate millions of.
